In Pursuit of Bluefish on Venerable Party Boat for The New York Times

The Flamingo 3, run by Captain Bob Wiegand and his son Rob, takes fishermen on day trips off the coast of New York and New Jersey. The party boat, a metling pot of people from the tri-state area, leaves at 6:30am in search of Bluefish and the occassional Striped Bass. Most bass fishing is reserved for the evening run, however. Patrons bring their own coolers full of snacks and drinks, and often come with family and friends. Many of the regulars know one another.
